Shopify Payments isn't offered in India: what you can do
Checked against the sources on 11 October 2026
India is not on Shopify's list of countries where Shopify Payments is offered (Shopify's list, read 11 October 2026). Shopify's own help page says a business in a country that isn't listed must use a third-party payment provider. Here is what that leaves you with, and what each option asks of you.
The short version
- Shopify Payments is offered in 40 countries; India is not one of them.
- Whop pays out to India, in Indian rupees (the currency of the country you register).
- Whop verifies every business first and can hold a reserve; read its rules before you switch.
- CheckoutSwitch puts your own checkout on your Shopify store, paid into your own Whop account: $49 a month, 0% of your orders.
Is Shopify Payments available in India?
No. On 11 October 2026, Shopify listed 40 countries where Shopify Payments is offered, and India was not one of them (Shopify's list). Shopify adds countries from time to time, so check the list again before you decide.
Your options
1. A third-party provider that serves India. Shopify shows the providers available to your store in your admin under Settings, then Payments. Each one has its own approval rules, fees, currencies and payout times; ask each about selling abroad and about your business type before you build around it.
2. A company in a country Shopify Payments serves. Some sellers form a company abroad to apply for Shopify Payments there. Merchants report that verification can ask for a local tax number or proof of operations in that country (a 2023 thread; a 2026 thread). It is a legal and tax decision: take advice where you live first.
3. Your own Whop account, through CheckoutSwitch. Whop pays out to India (Whop's payout list). With CheckoutSwitch, shoppers pay on your own checkout page, into your Whop account, and the order appears in Shopify as paid.
Stripe lists India as a preview country, by invitation (Stripe's availability page). If you receive payouts from a foreign platform, ask your bank or adviser how they are treated for export and tax purposes before you start.
What Whop asks of you
Whop verifies every business before it pays out, payout options vary by country, and Whop can hold a reserve or pause an account under its own rules (payout setup, reserves). Some products can't be sold on Whop at all (what is not allowed).
Whop pays out in the currency of the country you register, to a bank account, mobile wallet or crypto wallet, depending on the country (payout methods). Standard payouts take up to 5 business days (fees).
What CheckoutSwitch does
CheckoutSwitch gives your Shopify store a checkout page of its own. Shoppers pay inside Whop's payment box, into your own Whop account, and every payment becomes a paid Shopify order. Your theme, products and cart stay as they are.
Every payment is checked against its order every 15 minutes. If our plan ever stops, your store falls back to Shopify's own checkout with the same cart.
It costs $49 a month for your first store and $29 for each store after it, and 0% of your orders. Whop's own card fees (from 2.7% + $0.30 per domestic card) are paid to Whop, not to us. Your first store has 7 days free.
See the checkout before you decide: the demo store runs on Whop in test mode, in all three layouts.
